by Beth

I started s project on 22 count hardanger fabric using number 8 perle cotton thread and after doing 1 side I feel I should use number 5 perle cotton. Should I take it all out and start over?

I use sizes 5 and 8 perle cotton
by: Carol

When working on a 22 count hardanger fabric, Beth, I tend to use size 5 perle cotton for the kloster blocks and any other satin stitch. You really want the thread to cover the fabric threads and not look too skimpy.

Then I use perle 8 (which is thinner) for the lacy work, eyelets and cable stitch for example.

The size 8 would be a little thin on a 22 count, but would work fine on a 28 count evenweave, with size 12 as the finer thread.

I hope this helps.
