THE STORY

Where the Little Ones Began

My Little Ones started life as a collection of mini kits for children and beginners to try cross stitch. We offered them for sale at the big UK stitching shows, and soon discovered that stitchers didn't buy only one! They collected them, and bought several at a time.

I no longer do the shows. It was fun when I was younger, but I still wanted those who hadn't finished their collections, or hadn't started one, to be able to. So I've begun putting them together in booklets.

Finish your set. If you picked up Little Ones kits at a show and never completed your collection, the designs are coming back here, one booklet at a time. And if you're new to them, this is a lovely place to start one.

Nine little teddies dressed for Christmas: an angel, Santa, Mrs Claus, a shepherd, a wise man, a teddy on skis, one tucked in a stocking, one in a wreath, and one all ready for Christmas Eve.

Each design has its own full-page chart, so you're never squinting at a crowded page.

BEFORE YOU START

What You Need

14 count aida. The finished sizes are for 14 count. On 28 count evenweave or linen, work over two threads and each design comes out the same size.

DMC stranded cotton. The shopping list in the booklet names every colour, and one skein of each is plenty for the whole booklet.

A size 24 tapestry needle.

How big are they? On 14 count aida, the finished designs measure between 1.4 and 2.8 inches (3.4 and 7.1 cm). That's a good size for Christmas cards, gift tags, tree decorations and small framed pieces.

Questions About the Little Ones Booklets

How do I get the booklet?

Payhip emails you a download link as soon as you've paid. Each booklet is a single PDF you can print at home or read on a tablet.

Do I need to be an experienced stitcher?

If you can work a cross stitch and follow a chart, you have what these designs need. Every design uses whole cross stitches, with backstitch outlines added at the end. They started life as kits for children and beginners.

Can I sell what I stitch from these?

Yes, in small numbers, and a credit is always appreciated. Please don't copy, share or resell the PDF or the charts themselves.

Can I stitch them on a different fabric?

Yes. On 28 count evenweave or linen, stitch over two threads and they come out the same size. A different count changes the finished size, but the design stays the same.

I bought Little Ones kits at a show. Are these the same designs?

Yes. These are the Little Ones designs from the shows, freshly charted and gathered into themed booklets, so you can finish a collection you started.
