Removing the backing muslin

You suggest that the backing fabric can be removed by snipping the basting, but hasn't it been incorporated into the embroidery? Surely all the stitches will be through all layers, including the backing layer?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write in and point that out. You were absolutely right - the instructions were missing a crucial step and didn't make sense as written!

The key part I'd left out was that after hooping, you cut away the scrap fabric from behind the stitching area before you start embroidering. That way, your stitches only go through the embroidery fabric itself. The scrap fabric is just there to give the hoop something to grip.

I've updated the page so it now includes that step and should be much clearer. I hope it makes more sense now!
