Hand Embroidery

by HELEN
(NEW HAMPSHIRE)

If there is anyone who knows of a website that sells hand embroidery patterns and or kits i would be forever grateful.

I have spend numerous days endlessly looking for such a website to no avail. I usually take a cross stitch pattern and make it hand embroidery. But i would prefer not to.

Thank you for any and all help. Helen

Historic embroidery?

If you are interested in historic embroidery kits, samplers & pictures, try The Scarlett Letter or The Essemplaire in Canada. Amazing things for all skill levels.

surface embroidery

Using the term 'surface embroidery patterns' on google, I pulled up dozens of sites.
To start you out, this one looks good:

Today's entry has a free pattern - look for the tag "free embroidery pattern" and click on it for a full list of all the posts with free patterns in them.

Here are a couple of free patterns on the Kreinik website:

Happy stitching!

Hand Embroidery

In the marketplace this kind of work has become more commonly called Surface Embroidery, not sure why. Try the Leisure Arts company, I have older patterns of theirs. Try searching 'Aunt Martha' and you will find many transfer designs to use on anything you like.
