Back stitching over dark stitches

I've just finished a large beauty and the beast cross stitch (it's beautiful) I just wondered if you could offer some advice or tips.
The back stitch/outline is to be done with dark thread ....on dark stitches and I'm struggling to find where I'm supposed to stitch, as it's very hard to see.
I do have light up magnifying glasses but I'm still struggling just to find where I'm supposed to stitch. I really want to finish it completely
Any advice and tips greatly appreciated.
