Yellowed old embroidery

I have a 30 year old embroiderd picture that has a real fancy woman sitting on rocking chair (her hair is curly and the shawl on the baby is really lacy).

I am scared to launder it in case it will fray and shrink but it has yellowed and I am wondering if there is anything I can put on it to lighten it up?
