What type of fabric?

I want to make new cloths to cover the communion chalice on the altar. I would like to do hardanger embroidery but I need a fabric that will drape nicely. Can you suggest a fabric for me to use?

Draping fabric for Hardanger

I think Hardanger on linen would suit your purpose. Make sure it is evenweave, and be aware that linen is a looser weave than cotton Hardanger fabric. To avoid problems, work any cutting and wrapping last, after all stitching is completed. Also recommend machine stitching around buttonhole edges before trimming away excess fabric. Happy Stitching.
