Down the Garden Path Sampler

I only recently found Carol's awesome website, so I am a little behind with this Sampler. I only just finished it today (11/14/07).

I made the little fishes GoldFish, with French knots for eyes. As you can see, French knots are KNOT my forte, so the eyes are a bit wonky. I will probably take them out and use black beads, I just don't have any at the moment.

Anyway, I really enjoyed working this sampler, and also learned quite a bit more about black work, mainly that it is much easier when someone else figures out the stitch sequence :P

My 13-year old son says the snails a very cool.

I think I can truly say that you started Trudy off on something exciting and addictive. Blackwork is both of these things.

I agree that Trudy has made an excellent start and I see her overtaking me at some time in the future too.

I love this sampler... my favs are the snails and the water waves.

I have to pat myself on the back for being the one to introduce Trudy to cross stitching. Fortunately for her, she has surpassed me in her ability a million times over. (I did about 4 small projects and was on to something else.)

I really like that she's branching out into black work. I do see a new obsession forming!

Trudy you are really on a roll! This is a lovely example of the blackwork sampler. I love your choice of colours.

You may have started it later than some, but you stitched it up real quick! I think I see another blackwork addict on the horizon.
