Tips for beginner in embroidery

There are so many different kinds of embroidery! First, you need to look at the different types and see what appeals to you visually. Then you must consider how much effort or work are you willing to go to do do a piece and yourself some questions.

Do you need to be able to buy your supplies locally?

What is available where you live?

How patient are you?

Do you require the pattern to be on the material, like stamped cross stitch and surface embroidery or painted canvas needlepoint?

Or does following a gridded chart seem like something you can do?

Look at the links here for examples of the choices that are available. If you have a shop near you, go look through their wares and ask them for input too; they want happy, returning customers and will surely help you find a style that you will enjoy.
