Embroidery Floss Strands
by Lynn

I have had a kit for years of a pre-stamped dreamland baby quilt kit for embroidery and I have a few questions before I begin.
I don't know if it is ok to mention brands so will just say that it starts with a D. I am a new at this. It calls for 3 strands or less floss.
What I am wondering if if there are 5 or more strands do I take it down to 3 and thread the needle with a strand with 3 together or 1 strand at a time? It may seen like a silly question but as stated I am new at this so unsure.
Also, if I want to add lines or patterns for quilting the fabric together later, should I mark it before starting the embroidery or after the embroidery is done. Thanks for any help.

How do I separate my strands?
by Jessica Warcup

I have just begun cross-stitching again and the directions are not very clear.
All the directions say are "separate the strands." Does that mean separate the 'bundle' of strings into the six individual strands?
I would think that when cross stitching with one individual strand the colors won't be 'full' enough. I have started with the strands by 3 but now I am second guessing myself thinking I may run out of string.
Any tips would be appreciated!
