Unfortunately, tea is used to dye fabric. If it does not come off with a rinse in plain water, it is likely to be permanent. You can combat this by dipping the whole piece in tea to give it a slightly aged appearance and this will camouflage the stain. Use the same kind of tea if you know what it is.
