grape juice/non-alcoholic wine stain

by Ellen

Hi,

I have a spot on my linen fabric (cross-stitch piece) of non-alcoholic red wine that I had tried to clean with cold water. The water did remove much of the spot but it is still visible. The problem is that the spot is close to the edge of the cross-stitch and may limit framing options. The spot has now been on the linen for about five days. At this point, is there anything else I can use to remove the remainder of the stain?

Thank you so very much,
Ellen

How do I remove the stain? It was 24 hrs before I discovered had gone further than I thought :(
Really need help as I can't start again, its taken me 2 months to get this far

removing red wine stain

If you spill red wine use white wine. Blot up as much of the red wine as possible. Put layers of paper towels underneath, scrunch them up to a donut like shape scrunch up fabric so center of stain is lower than outside edge of stain. This will keep stain from spreading. Work from outside edge inward.hold extra towels beside stain, pour white wine on stain and immediately blot. Wash as usual. This works on wine stains that have dried. We all have had dinners and later noticed dried wine stains. This has saved my tablecoth more than once.
