Prism floss

For my birthday I was given some packages of Prism floss.

From my research I have discovered that it is made by DMC, but it seems to be marketed for friendship bracelets, not cross-stitch.

Is it not good to use Prism floss for cross-stitch? Also, since the skeins do not have any numbers on them, how do I convert them to regular DMC numbers?
