Oil stained cross stitch picture

I did a cross stitch picture in 1981. It has been hanging in my mother-in-law's house since then. She passed away this weekend. I asked my son to get the picture which he did; however, he put it in the trunk of his car and motor oil spilled on it. I need to know how to remove the motor oil so that I can hang the picture up again. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me.
