Linen conversion 32 to 28 count.

by Lisa
(Syracuse, NY)

I am not sure how much fabric I need if I go with 28 count linen instead of 32 count. The pattern says the stitch count is 300H x 203 W. It says to use 32 count linen 25 x 19 piece. I actually have 28 count linen at home that is 20 x 27. Do I have enough fabric?

thanks so much!

Assuming you are stitching over two threads of the linen, multiply the stitch count by 2 and divide by the count of the linen, e.g. 300 stitches x 2 = 600 divided by 28 = 21.42 inches and 203 x 2 divided by 28 = 14.5 inches. Depending on what you are making you might just about have enough but you will have to turn your linen 90 degrees (not that it matters)
