How to wash a wooden embroidery hoop

After many years of using and handling my favorite wooden embroidery hoop, I was wondering how to remove the body oils, etc.

Do I wash it with dish soap, hand soap, rubber alcholol? If you have wrapped the hoop with bias tape or something similiar, you just remove the wrapping and put on another. I have a good hard-wood 3/4" thick hoop from Germany.
