how to do the faggott stitch

I am having a real hard time figuring out the faggott stitch. I don't know where on the fabric to begin . I try and the stitch takes off to the left. The stitch is in a sampler. I hope I gave you enough info. I just plain don't understand the stitch. Is there anyway you can show ma a diagram showing each step listed with numbers. (1-2-3 etc.) I know this is a pulled thread but once again where and when do you pull? Help in Illinois Janet thanks so much for your time.
