How to convert Anchor floss numbers from early 50's to todays Anchor or DMC

by Helen Haslam
(Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

I wish to complete a wonderful embroidery my mother started in the 1950's. It is a very realistic picture of a pheasant with a border of different leaves and berries. I have the instructions in a magazine , and a jumble of threads, but many have lost their numbers, and there is no colour illustration. How can I find a conversion key? as I understand Anchor numbers changed in the 70's. Exact match is not critical.

Thank you.
