How to carry threads in Blackwork rooster

by Barbara Lewis
(Tucson,Arizona,USA)

I just found this ste yesterday and purchased your beginner book on Blackwork and also the rooster pattern.

Today while looking at the pattern I started worrying about carrying threads...there are many "one-square" parts..

I am a relative beginner so this poses a problem...I would appreciate any sugestions.

Is it a good idea not to carry threads across areas that will not be stitched over, as they can show up from behind. If there is an outline nearby then I try to thread my needle through the back of those stitches to "travel" to the next area to stitch. If the stitches I have just completed are totally isolated then I am afraid the best solution is to fasten off and rejoin in the next area.

Regards,

Carol
