how do I finish an ornament

by Julia

I am trying to attach cording around the ornament. How do I finish the cording's raw edge? I have already sewn the front and back together.

I am stumped.

You can make a tassel by leaving a length at the bottom, sew it down all the way around and then leave a matching length.

Tie a knot in it and unravel the remainder for a tassel and trim it off.

Or, conceal the start of the cord between the pieces you are assembling, go all the way around and back to the top. Male a hanging loop, then poke the end downside where you started from. This method usually needs a bow or a button or some other ornament to cover the overlaps.
