Grease stain removal on a wool needlepoint rug

A tray of bacon wrapped scallops landed on my black background needlepoint rug.

The grease spots solidified before I was able to use a dry cleaning powder that I applied after using a pre-mist. I had let it dry for at least 6 hours or more before vacuming.

I did this twice and now have white spots where the grease is. I tried to brush it out but it does not take care of all the white. Is there anything else I can do to remedy this?
