Embroidering on Ribbon

I would like to hand embroidery on silk ribbon but am not sure how to hold the ribbon taut. The ribbon is 1/2" wide. I want to embroider block letters on the ribbon using satin stitch.

Also, what is the smallest size hoop made for hand embroidery and where can I purchase it?
