Cross Stitch with Bead decoration

by Barb Sterne
(Kamuela, HI)

I purchased a Mill Hill cross stitch pattern which includes a lot of beading.

I have the 28 count linen, the floss and the beads but I'm unclear which order to do things. Do I first cross stitch the areas that get the beads (with the floss color indicated for each bead) or do the beads go directly on the linen with the designated color floss.

I asked the question at the shop but now that I'm looking at the pattern, I'm confused about this!!

I find that cross stitching with beads is fun .All you do is come up thru bead,go to hole 2then to three thru the bead ,down to the fourth to complee the cross stitchYou can also stitch your first stitch then add the bead on the return to complete the stitch.rabies

Cross Stitch w/Beads

The bead is the only thing in the space, there is no cross stitch under it.

Thank you but I'm still not clear...

Should the space/block (or whatever it's called!) on my canvas where the bead will go have a cross stitch with the bead on top or is the bead the only thing in its space??

Do all cross stitch first, then back stitch (if any), add beads last. Carol has very good instructions for attaching beads on this website.
