can anyone advise me where in England I can purchase a laying tool? I am having difficulty in locating a supplier.

Just Cross-Stitch magazine's resident expert has good article and tips at http://www.serve.com/marbeth/laying_tool.html

I prefer the trolley needle she talks about (don't have to hold just leave it stuck on my finger like a thimble; one is pictured at a distributor a lot of shops use at http://www.nordencrafts.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=MI1010TN01 ) or sometimes I steal drill bits or picks from my husbands woodworking supplies (making sure they are clean and grease free).
