Changing fabric size

I have a kit for a Christmas Stocking worked 14 count Aida. The finished length is 16". I would prefer to use evenweave fabric and want to make the stocking smaller. What size fabric would I use and what would be the finished length?

As you want to use evenweave you will probably be working over 2 threads, making 28 count the equivalent of 14 count Aida. If you want to make it smaller work out the stitch count and divide it by 2, you can then work out what the size would be on say a 32 count by dividing the stitch count by 32 or if you want it smaller still try 36 count and so on.
