Question: I have been working on my cross stitch for over a year, and it is showing signs of dirt. Can I wash it?

Answer: Certainly! I have created a page with simple instructions for safely washing your embroidered project that may help you, Patty.

You will find it here... Washing needlework

Can I wash my Complete Picture

You must test that your thread is colorfast. This means that you must be sure the color will not bleed out of the thread and ruin your work. If you are certain it will not bleed, wash the piece in room temperature water in a very gentle soap such Ivory (I have used their bar soap for this, it works well) Rinse it well, do not wring or squeeze it. Lay it out flat to dry on an absorbent towel. You lay another towel over it and pat it with your hands to help remove the extra water. Do not iron it to hurry it up, you will likely be sorry.
