Blackwork Stitch by Stitch is a printed book which contains all the information in my Blackwork for beginners ebook and more besides! So what else do you get?
A whole section of almost 50 blackwork fill patterns, and variations, charted out for you step by step. Each one shows a series of journeys back and forth that make up the pattern. Notes beside each tell you what skill level is required, whether it needs a large area to show it of to its best advantage, whether the pattern stitches up dark or light, whether it is reversible or not, and how quick it is to stitch. Starting with simple running stitch patterns Blackwork Stitch by Stitch will take you on to more complex patterns. The Pattern Library is divided into 3 sections; small, medium and large fills. Each section has a stitched sampler showing how the stitches will look once completed. Some of the patterns are used in the 8 designs at the back of the book, which also come with step by step instructions. The front part of the book contains basic instructions for choosing fabric and threads (including hand-dyed fibres) for your blackwork, gives hints for how to include a touch of gold in your designs, shows you methods of shading to add depth and dimension to your work, and even gives you advice on how to choose blackwork fill patterns for your own designs. This is a physical product, it will not be delivered automatically by e-mail, you will have to wait for the postman to bring you this one. If you want something straight away then the ebook would probably suit you better.
