Ballpoint Ink On Aida Cloth

by Peg
(Sturgis, Michigan)

I have a problem with ballpoint ink being used on the back of a cross stitch project.

The Aida cloth is white and a little dirty so I put it in a large bowl with a little laundry detergent and some warm water. The ink has been on there for some time. (I hadn't gotten around to framing until now.)

The ink has now bled through the cloth to the front side of the piece.

Rubbing alcohol has always worked for me in the past to remove ballpoint ink but this time it just made the ink run. I don't know what to do.

Update To The Problem
by: Peg

After posting my request I started reading several of the Q & A.

Many stated that they had used non-acetate finger nail polish remover on ball point ink stains. These cross stitch pieces were done for me and had grids drawn in ink on the back.

Using the nail polish remover worked like a charm!! I got every bit of the ink out. Thanks to all the helpful posts on this site.
