Baby blankets

by Sarah Rice
(El Paso, TX)

I am making a receiving blanket for my first baby, that is due in August.

It just a simple piece of fabric, all you have to do is sew on the pre folded border. Just something really simple. But I would like to add something to make it mine. Like put an emblem in a corner.

I am really into dolphins and it’s like something really big to me that when he looks at the blanket later he will know I made it because of the dolphin.

His grandma made him one with a heart but it’s just like appliquéd on. I would really like to embroider something on there and I have been searching the internet trying to figure out how.

It looks like there are patterns but I haven’t found out how they are used or how to use one you make yourself. The hand stitching is beautiful and I would love to add an even more personal touch to the blanket. So if anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

Sarah

Baby Blanket
by: Anonymous

Hi Sarah,
Congratulations on becoming a mother!
Now, if you know how to cross stitch, I assume you will be able to follow the pattern of your choice. If the blanket material is comfortable, you can stitch the pattern directly on it; otherwise, you may want to stitch it on a piece of 14 count Aida cloth and then sew it onto the blanket...
I know this may sound confusing... if you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me

Also, there are a lot of downloadable free patterns online.
Good luck!
