Stitchin'Time, Issue 5
April 15, 2007

Welcome to issue 5

Welcome to the April issue of Stitchin'Time. Firstly apologies for it being a little late, Easter got in the way. I took the opportunity to visit my parents along with all three of my siblings. We had a great time. My youngest sister, her husband and daughter along with myself and my mother took all 4 dogs for a lovely long walk. Young Skye was given her first opportunity to go off lead and behaved brilliantly, coming back when called every time. I hope that if you celebrate Easter, you also had a wonderful time.

Testimonials

Right down to business. April sees the 6 month anniversary of needlework tips and techniques. Thanks to those who have been with me since the early days. The time has just flown by. Each month the number of subscribers to Stitchin'Time increases and I have had some wonderful emails from some of you who are enjoying the step by step blackwork sampler and the web site. If I may I'd like to share a few with you.

  • I enjoy your 'walk through' of the stitches for the pattern very much. It is very helpful, especially for beginners like me and at the same time makes one understand where to start a row and how to proceed. They are real treasures to be referred whenever I have doubts. Viji from India

  • I purchased your e-book as soon as I got the e-mail announcing it. Thank you. It is terrific !! and electronic delivery is so easy to use. Ellyn in Manhattan NOTE from Carol - the blackwork ebook can be found at the following link. Blackwork for Beginners

  • I like your web pages and have found them very useful. I don't know why I didn't think of doing double running stitch instead of a much more complicated method of doing blackwork. I have signed up for your e-zine Heather from the UK

The next sampler is . . .

Do you remember that I asked what you would like to see next once you have completed the Up the Garden Path blackwork sampler? Well a strong runner at present is for something incorporating various whitework techniques. Does this sound interesting? Maybe you have something else you would like to try. Don't forget to get in touch and let me know your choice.

This months special offer

With Easter just gone, and spring most definately here in the UK, I am thinking along the lines of new things. What better than a new hobby, especially for the youngsters who may be able to enjoy it for many years to come. With this in mind, this month's special offer is for "Little Ones" counted cross stitch kits. For every three you purchase you can choose an extra one for FREE. Just pop your free choice in the comments box. So if you order 6 kits add an extra two in the comments box and I will send them out FREE with your order. The "Little Ones" are to be found at X-Calibre at the following link:

Have fun!

Band 5 of the sampler

OK lets move on to band 5 the cute snails. When I have taught this sampler at workshops this band is the favourite of many stitchers. Just follow the stitches in the diagram below in alphabetical order, then change direction and fill in the grey stitches on the return journey. Easy!

Don't forget to check the chart and pop in the antenna using the gold metallic thread.

Next month we tackle the waterlilies. Have you noticed that we are working our way down from the acorns in the trees, to the butterflies flitting around, then the bushes, then the flowers and wheat. This time we have the snails on the ground under the flowers. Then we move to the pond with the waterlilies floating on top of the water and the fishes underneath. I do hope you are enjoying stitching this little sampler.
