| Hi everyone,
I am so sorry that there was no newsletter in October. Things were so hectic I didn’t manage to write one. I humbly plead for forgiveness from those of you who wrote and asked me where it was. But, the saying is “Better late than never” so I hope this issue was worth waiting for.
A helping handA young friend, aged 19, popped in and lent a hand with packing orders the other day and worked really hard, bless her. After some time I suggested she go make us a cup of tea. I explained that my cup needed rice milk as I couldn’t drink the ordinary stuff and off she went.A few minutes later she brought my cuppa back and I took a sip, only to wish I hadn’t! It was awful. I couldn’t think what she had done wrong so I asked her to show me. Apparently she had never made tea with tea leaves before, drinking coffee at home. She didn’t use the teapot, but spooned tea leaves into the bottom of the cup and poured water on top. Oh dear! I asked her what she thought the tea strainer was for and she answered “I thought it was a mini sieve”. A quick lesson in making tea followed and I don’t think she will make that mistake again!
Now I need a helping hand! It’s that time of year again. Christmas is approaching. I can’t actually believe that this newsletter is one year old later this month! Anyway, that help I was asking for. If you subscibed from the beginning you will know that I was the prompt for the village pantomime last year (and the one before that) and hints were dropped that I aught to take a bigger role this time around.Making an idiot of myself on stage is not really my idea of fun, but I thought I’d let you decide what I should do. Play safe and prompt again (after all no-one else wants the job) or be courageous and take part in the perfomance itself? I have to admit to being scared of that idea! Well it’s in your hands now. . . . . .
So what has kept me busy?I am still working on upgrading the site so that all pages use the new layout. With nearly 200 pages in total it is taking quite some time! And I have two other websites as well to look after. (www.the-gluten-free-chef.com and www.handmade-craft-ideas.com)A job I have been meaning to do for some time reached completion this morning. Remember our Up the Garden Path sampler? Well I have compiled all the information and diagrams, along with a complete version of the chart, into an ebook. I am offering a free copy as a bonus to everyone who buys a copy of Blackwork for Beginners. I have also designed a new cross stitch freebie for the site, a Turkey just perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Enjoy. I have also added many more of the designs as instant downloads. Now this may sound silly but I had to buy one of my own charts in order to be able to see what Paypal showed after you had made a purchase. I have captured a screenshot and added it to the pages so that you can see what you need to click on in order to go to the download page. A few people were having problems not knowing where to go after payment. See, there is nothing I won’t do to help out!
Do you have a question about needlework? The site now hosts a page where you can ask any needlework related question. It is interactive and anyone can help you out with an answer. Of course you can still write to me and ask, but by using the questions page others get a chance to help too. As the page is rather new we don’t have any questions yet, someone needs to break the ice. Any takers?
An early Christmas present for you!You are the best ever newsletter subscribers! My friends who have websites are always moaning about how no-one opens their newsletters. But you, my friends, write to me and ask where it is when it’s late! Wow! I have been thinking of a way to say thank you and I’ve come up with an answer. If you click on the link below you will be taken to a secret page on the website. There you will find another link to a free and gratis blackwork design only available to you, my subscribers! I do hope you like it. So I will leave you with a early Happy Christmas and see you soon.
Haven't subscribed yet?If you're reading this on the recommendation of a friend and would like to receive future editions, you can subscribe for free. See you next month, Regards, Carol
