Stichin'Time newsletter August 02, 2008 |
Hi everyone,
Did you notice the new look logo at the top of this newsletter? And on the site for that matter? A good friend in Denmark created it for me, didn't she do a great job?
Thanks also to all of you who wished me a happy birthday in July. I had a great day and spent most of it stitching and tatting. Skye's anticsIf you have been a subscriber for some time to my ezine you will know Skye is my young spaniel who keeps the whole family amused with her antics.
The other day I was in the garden with her throwing her favourite toy for her to retrieve. This toy was the first thing I ever bought her, before we even brought her home from the breeder. It used to be a green squeaky crocodile.
I say used to be as it is now only the front half! The rest has been chewed to bits.
Well with my mangled shoulders throwing toys is something I am not all that good at. I tried, really I did. But the crocodile slipped out of my hand and headed in the wrong direction.
It bounced off the top of the shed and disappeared from view, leaving poor Skye quite frantic. She barked at me, ran from end to end of the shed, went up the garden to appear the other side of the wall at the end of the shed and look down on me, but she couldn't find her toy.
I enlisted the help of my neighbours to see if it had got stuck in the hedge between our gardens, and behind the shed. But no luck. I was just about to give up and take a confused dog back inside when I thought to go up on the wall myself and look down behind the shed.
There it was! Exactly half way down the side of the shed, out of reach.
With the help of my neighbour and a broom handle we eventually rescued the crocodile to the delight of one young dog.
She wouldn't let it out of her sight for the rest of the day! Additions to the siteI started a new section on the site last month, just after the last newsletter went out.
To give you a head start on stumpwork I created a sweet little bunny for you to try. Stumpwork is a form of raised embroidery and is great fun to play with.
I have also started a new blog which you can reach from the navigation bar on the main site.
The software I used before was difficult to work with... and on a different computer... both things that made updating it a chore rather than a pleasure. Now it is so much easier and I promise to add posts to it on a regular basis.
Other additions to the site have been general housekeeping type jobs. At the request of a couple of customers I now offer both the blackwork owl starter kit along with the elephant and rhino as downloadable charts.
Stitchalong whitework samplerOK its time for band 3 of the whitework sampler. I have to admit that I don't know how many people are stitching this with me, as I have had very little feedback. Hopefully some of you are enjoying it? Let me know.
You will find band 3... which covers satin stitch (unpulled) and pulled double back stitch here.
Feel free to spread the word about the stitchalong on your own blogs or facebook pages etc.
Thank you for subscribingLastly I would like to thank everyone of you for signing up for my newsletter. If you know anyone else that might like to receive it please let them know.
Regards,
Carol
