New Additions

In my last newsletter I told you that we were awaiting the arrival of a very special little person. Well, I am pleased to say he arrived safe and sound, even if he did keep us waiting an extra two weeks after his due date. Let me introduce you to baby Lucas Charles who joined the family in October 2011 weighing 7lb 15 oz which was exactly the same as his dad, 23 years ago. As you can imagine I have been enjoying lots of cuddles.

The site has seen a new addition too. I have been asked on numerous occasions about couching. This is a very easy technique with so many variations. Therefore I stitched up some sample, just doodles really, and added a page to the site where you can see photographs and read about different ways to add couched threads to your needlework projects. You will find the new page here...

Your questions

There have been many more new pages added by you, my visitors. The interactive pages on the site are proving very popular with questions coming in on all sorts of needlework subjects. Where I can, I try to answer the question as I upload it.

Although I love all forms of stitching there are some questions which I am unable to help with. This is where I ask for your assistance. :)

There are two questions that I recently uploaded which desperately need your help. Why not drop by and see if you can assist with either of these two or any of the others that people have sent in. Here are the two that are awaiting comments...

I have also added a new invitation.

I know a lot of you are busy designing your own patterns after purchasing my Stitch Your Own Business ebook. Whether you want to know about the software available or how to present your charts, I am willing to help if I can.

Ask your own design questions.

There is one invitation page that is currently very lonely and unloved.

The crazy quilt pages on the site are very popular and I added a page where you could show off your latest projects. However, to date there have been less than half a dozen posts on that page. I really would love to see what you have been doing, as I am sure, would other visitors. So if you have tried crazy quilting or just have a question about how to go about it, please don't be shy and take a little trip over to...

My questions

My turn to ask you a few questions now.

A few people have asked me whether the site will have sections on knitting, crochet or tatting. I would be interested to know if you consider these crafts to be forms of needlework? I know you use knitting needles, but is it stretching things to include crochet (hooks) and tatting (shuttles) on the site?

Or are you happy with the current sections of the site and would like to see more in each of those? Let me know.

I have made a few changes to the site. I have made the links in the navigation bar into buttons rather than just text links. Does this make it easier for you to find your way around the site?

I also changed their order somewhat, moving the different techniques higher up so that you see them first.

I am always trying to make your user experience better where I can. With nearly 4000 subscribers to this newsletter and close to 2000 visitors each day, I want to get things working as smoothly for everyone as I can.

The dogs

I know I will get e-mails galore if I don't mention the dogs.

They are both doing well. Poppy made me howl with laughter the other day. Her new way of asking to go out is to jump on my lap, wriggle up onto my shoulder with her back to my chest, and then lay in my arms like a baby. Without thinking, I started rubbing her tummy on this particular occasion and she burped! I thought it was just baby Lucas who needed winding. :)

Thank you for subscribing

Lastly I would like to thank everyone of you for signing up for my newsletter. If you know anyone else that might like to receive it please feel free to forward this e-mail and ask them to sign up.

Regards,

Carol
